Writers, Alamo City Comic Con Wants You!

As a booklover and former teacher of tween and teen readers, Alamo City Comic Con’s addition of the Young Adventurers Workshop makes me incredibly excited. Now the title of the workshop may make someone think at first that the workshop has something to do with adventure games. Though that couldn’t be further from the truth.

The Young Adventurers Workshop is a writer’s workshop for amateur and professional writers to be led by six popular middle grade authors. ACCC and Barnes & Noble have partnered to bring Holly Black, Lou Anders, Matthew Cody, Obert Skye, Melissa Marr, and Bruce Coville to the Con to share their writing knowledge during a variety of presentations on Friday, October 28th. “Creating Ambiguity in Heroes and Villains”, “ScripTips – Plotting Your Novel the Hollywood Way”, “Monsters, Medieval Weapons, and Mayhem” are just a few of the presentations planned for the day. There will also be a Q&A session with the authors and book signings. With so much experience and knowledge in the room, attendees are bound to walk away from this event bursting with ideas.

This special limited-seating event only has 75 openings and requires the purchase of a specific ticket for the workshop. There are two ticket options. The first includes just a one-day pass to ACCC as well as access to the workshop and a copy of Lou Ander’s book Frostborn. Option two differs as it includes a three-day pass to ACCC and access to the Con Preview Night on October 27 along with entrance to the workshop and a copy of Frostborn. No matter which ticket option an attendee chooses, they can’t go wrong with all they’ll gain from these six amazing authors.

Also, those attending ACCC on Saturday and Sunday will have opportunities to meet the authors and have books signed, which would be perfect for the tweens and teens that read these books. So no matter if you’re a writer looking to learn more about your craft or a fan of one or all six of these talented authors, mark your calendar and buy your ticket now. Space is limited and this looks to be one of the places to be at this year’s Con.
